ABOUT ME

Community focus

Born in Nambour in 1991 I lived in Cooroy until December 2004 before moving to Pinbarren where I still live today.

I have been actively involved with supporting community groups around the region and have been a member of the Pomona State Emergency Service group since 2013. In recent years I have actively supported the Cooroy-Pomona Lions Club in their running of the Pomona King of the Mountain by volunteering to help set up over several days prior to the event. As a kid, I was often seen supporting the Cooroy Rotary Club with their BBQ's and at RYDA. I have always been an avid supporter of our veterans, assisting over the course of many years to raise much-needed funds for the Cooroy-Pomona RSL Sub Branch and was honoured to receive an honorary membership of the Sub Branch for my voluntary work.

For most of my childhood, I was involved with sporting groups, including as a member of the Cooroy Dolphins and Pomona Whales swimming clubs and the Australian Navy Cadet unit NTS Sheean based in Tewantin where sailing was a regular weekend activity on the Pumicestone Passage at Caloundra and Lake Cootharaba.

I have been an active member of the Pomona State Emergency Service group since 2013 being sent around the state in support of storm damage operations. As a flood boat operator, I'm often on the Noosa River training and sometimes in response to incidents. As a flood boat operator, so far I've supported MSQ and QPS operations on the river and have been involved with responding to requests for assistance by boaties.

I have been the Director of the Pomona and District Weather Warnings since 2013, where round the clock updates are posted to support the community during stressful times of disaster and the Chairman of the Pomona Memorial Committee since 2018.

I previously ran for a seat as a Councillor during the 2020 Local Government election.

I am a member of numerous organisation, namely as a member of the Cooroora Historical Society, Member of the Royal Society of Queensland, Member of the Royal Queensland Geographical Society and in 2020 I was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (FRSA).

In 2011 I was named the Young Australian of the Year for the Sunshine Coast along with Manuel Barth of Currimundi. As part of the Queensland Day awards this year in Noosa I was awarded a Queensland Day Medallion by Sandy Bolton, MP for my work around the Noosa Shire.
